About The Knife Maker
Hello, my name is Dave Sytsma, and I am a dedicated part-time knife maker and a seasoned 15-year law enforcement professional based in Southeastern Oregon. I am committed to producing high-quality custom knives at a reasonable price, using primarily stock removal or handmade quality blanks. Every knife is meticulously crafted from start to finish in my one-man shop. I handle all the work except for the handmade leather sheaths, which are expertly crafted by a local leather smith specifically for each knife. I source blanks from reputable knife makers and am open to reasonable custom orders, catering to various needs such as hunting/skinning, utility, and kitchen knives. If you have a specific design, send a photo or drawing with dimensions and details about the knife's intended use. I also offer the option to create displays for your knife.
About the Knives
I do Damascus, stainless, and carbon steel blades, as well as fixed and folder. Various handle materials are used, including wood, domestic and exotic, antler, bone, horn, stone, etc. I also use man-made materials, such as Dymalux, Micarta, etc. If anything specific, ask. I hand-pick for the best look, with the most figure/character from the wood. I hand-shaped all handles and sanded them to at least 800 grit before finishing them. Each wood-handled knife receives numerous coats of finish to bring out the most beauty in the wood. If you see a knife on the website but want a different wood/ sheath, finish, etc., ask. All knives are assembled using a two-part epoxy and corby bolts when possible.
